If detected early, breast cancer can be controlled. It’s when the disease spreads, or metastasizes, that it often turns lethal. Metastatic cancer cells can lie dormant for years, even decades, only to “wake up” and find their way into different parts of the body, such as the lungs, liver, brain or bones. For those patients whose cancer metastasizes, there has been little hope for long.
Research Interests. Functional genomics analysis of mammary gland development, breast cancer initiation, progression and metastasis. Metastasis is responsible for most of cancer deaths.
Professor Jian Kang, FREng, FIOA, FASA, FIIAV, CEng, holds Chair in Acoustics at IEDE, The Bartlett, UCL, from 2018. He has been Professor of Acoustics (now as Visiting Professor) at the University of Sheffield School of Architecture since 2003, and previously he also worked at the University of Cambridge, the Fraunhofer Institute of Building Physics in Germany, and Tsinghua University in.
Dr Yiyun Kang is Visiting Lecturer in IED specialising in projected moving-image works. Kang is an artist and researcher who explores the intersection of art, technology, and experience. Her practice and research that investigate the novel forms of projected moving-image installation work attempt to explore the symbiotic relationship between hybrid moving-image, spatial narrative, and space.
