The shack this letter refers to is the painful place were the search for his daughter ends tragically. A few years earlier, a serial killer abducted Mack’s daughter Missy. A lead sends them to an old shack where Missy’s blood-soaked dress is discovered. Mack decides to go the shack to see if this is some kind of prank, or if God will show up.
The Shack, authored by William G. Young, is known as a fictional Christian story created in an autobiographical narrative. It of the book is a metaphor for “the house you build out of your own pain”, as mcdougal explained within an interview with radio discuss show host, Drew Marshall.
The Shack centers more on mankind and how the author believes the Trinity works in our lives. What God says in His Word is for all time and is neither embellished or deminished over time. The questions asked by the author of God are partially centered in the Word, however some of the conclusions would be better expressed in a New Age context.
